First Grade worksheets to help students learn how to add a 2-digit number to a 1-digit number. No regrouping is required. Students can start with strategies like counting fingers, counting on or number bonds. They may also write the problems in a vertical form. With practice, they should be able to do the sums in their heads.
No regrouping means the sum of the digits in the ones place stays below 10. If the sum of the digits in a place value is 10 or more, you’ll need to regroup (carry over).
