How to find the area from the circumference of a circle & vice versa?

There are two sets of area and circumference worksheets

• Area and circumference (inches, ft, yard)
• Area and circumference (mm, cm)

Find the area given the circumference

To find the area of a circle given its circumference, use the following steps:

1. Use the formula for the circumference, C = 2πr
   Find the radius (r):
   r = C/(2π)
2. Once you have the radius, you can then find the area using the formula:
   A = πr²

Example:
Find the area of a circle with a circumference of 43.96 units. Use 3.14 for π.
r = 43.96/2π = 7 units
A = π(7)² = 153.86 units²

Find the circumference given the area

To find the circumference of a circle given its area, use the following steps:

1. Use the formula for the area, A = πr²
   Find the radius (r):
   r = √(A/π)
2. Once you have the radius, you can then find the circumference using the formula:
   C = 2πr

Example:
Find the circumference of a circle with an area of 113.04 units². Use 3.14 for π.
r = √(113.04/π) = 6 units
C = 2π(6) = 37.68 units
