In these free math worksheets, students practice how to convert between the customary units of capacity (gallons, quarts, pints, cups).
How to convert between the different units of capacity?
Here are the conversion factors for gallons, quarts, pints, and cups:
1 gallon = 4 quarts
1 quart = 2 pints
1 pint = 2 cups
To convert from one unit to another, you can use these conversion factors to multiply or divide by the appropriate factor.
For example:
To convert gallons to quarts, multiply the number of gallons by 4.
To convert quarts to pints, multiply the number of quarts by 2.
To convert pints to cups, multiply the number of pints by 2.
Here are some example conversions:
2 gallons = 8 quarts = 16 pints = 32 cups
3 quarts = 6 pints = 12 cups
4 pints = 8 cups = 2 quarts
