In these free math worksheets, students practice how to divide a decimal by a power of ten.
How to divide a decimal by a power of 10?
Dividing a decimal by a power of 10 is equivalent to moving the decimal point to the left by the same number of places as the exponent in the power of 10.
For example:
To divide 45.2 by 10, we move the decimal point one place to the left to get 4.52
To divide 562.3 by 102, we move the decimal point two places to the left to get 5.623
To divide 23.8 by 103, we move the decimal point three places to the left to get 0.0238
In general, to divide a decimal by 10n, where n is a positive integer, we move the decimal point n places to the left.
