How to factor an expression?

Factoring by Common Factor:
This is the simplest method and involves finding the greatest common factor (GCD) of all the terms in the expression.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Find the GCD of all terms. The GCD is the largest number that is a factor of all the terms in the expression.
  2. Divide each term in the expression by the GCD.
  3. Write the factored expression as the GCD times the remaining expression after dividing each term by the GCD.

Have a look at this video if you need to review how to divide a mixed number by a mixed number.
