How to convert between fractions, decimals and percents?

Fractions, decimals, and percents are all different ways to represent parts of a whole.

  1. Fractions
A fraction represents a part of a whole and is written as a/b, where a is the numerator (the part) and b is the denominator (the whole).
  2. Decimals
A decimal is another way to represent a part of a whole using powers of ten. Digits to the right of the decimal point represent the fractional parts.
  3. Percents
A percent represents a part out of 100. For example, 75% means 75 out of 100.

We can convert between fractions, decimals, and percents.
Here are some common techniques:

  1. Fraction to Decimal: Divide the numerator by the denominator.
  2. Decimal to Fraction: Write the decimal as a fraction over a power of 10 based on the decimal places. Simplify if possible
  3. Percent to Decimal: Divide by 100 (or move the decimal two places to the left) and remove the percent sign.
  4. Decimal to Percent: Multiply by 100 (or move the decimal two places to the right) and add a percent sign.
