Method 1: Using the formula
In general, the formula for increasing a number by a percentage can be expressed as:
Increased Value = Original Number + (Original Number × Percentage Decimal)
Example: Increase 80 by 25%.
Method 2: Using a Multiplier
The formula for increasing a number by a percentage using a multiplier can be expressed as:
Increased Value = Original Number × (1 + Percentage Decimal)
Example: Increase 80 by 25%.
Using this multiplier approach can provide a quick and efficient way to calculate the increased value of a number by a certain percentage. We can do step 2 in the head and use a calculator for step 3 if necessary.
