I know how to solve metric capacity word problems by adding and subtracting metric capacity.

How to convert between different metric capacity?

1 liter (L) = 1000 milliliters (mL)

To convert from a larger unit to a smaller unit, we multiply.
For example, to convert 12 liters to milliliters, multiply by 1,000:
12 liters = 12 × 1,000 = 12,000 milliliters.

To convert from a smaller unit to a larger unit, we divide.
For example, to convert 17,000 milliliters to liters, divide by 1000:
17,000 milliliters = 17,000 ÷ 1,000 = 17 liters.
