Learning the “ng” Sound
The “ng” sound is a consonant digraph that combines the letters “n” and “g” to create a unique nasal sound: /ŋ/. This sound is common in English and appears at the end or middle of many words.

  1. Introduce the Sound
    Explain that “ng” makes a special sound, like the end of the word sing.
    Demonstrate the sound: Place your hand on your nose while saying /ŋ/. Feel the vibration—it’s a nasal sound!

  2. Word Examples
    Introduce common “ng” words:
    At the End: sing, ring, king, wing, long, song, thing, bring
    In the Middle: finger, hungry, jungle, hanger
