How to perform Polynomial Operations?

Polynomials are algebraic expressions consisting of variables and coefficients, combined using addition, subtraction, multiplication, and non-negative integer exponents.

Basic Operations with Polynomials

  1. Addition and Subtraction:
Combine like terms: Terms with the same variable and exponent can be added or subtracted.
  2. Multiplication:
Use the distributive property: Multiply each term of one polynomial by each term of the other polynomial.
  3. Division:
Long division or synthetic division: These methods are used for dividing polynomials by binomials or linear factors.

Key Points to Remember:
Combine like terms: Only terms with the same variable and exponent can be combined.
Distributive property: Multiply each term in one polynomial by each term in the other.
Exponent rules: When multiplying terms with the same base, add the exponents. When dividing terms with the same base, subtract the exponents.
Remainder: In polynomial division, if there’s a remainder, it can be expressed as a fraction with the divisor as the denominator.
